METHODOLOGY
Clarity about how opinion is measured.
PollGrid distinguishes open, verified, research, private and commissioned work. Self-selected participation cannot establish population representativeness. Verification improves participation controls; it does not create a scientific sample. Research needs an approved sampling design, documented fieldwork, transparent weighting and limitations. Commissioned research must disclose who funded or commissioned it.
Open poll
Self-selected participation. Results describe respondents, not the general population.
Verified poll
Stronger uniqueness controls do not make a sample representative.
Research / scientific poll
Inference depends on an approved sample design, methodology and disclosures.
Private survey
Restricted to a defined or invited respondent population.
Enterprise / commissioned research
Client-funded research. Sponsorship and underlying sampling method must be disclosed.
